One of Healthy Life Project missions is to spread awareness of the Mind body connection. We hear the phrase often, and it's not until you get really conscious about what the Mind Body connection means, that you begin to apply it to your everyday life.
When your mind is encumbered, your body may hold tension or dis-ease. When your body is tense, your mind may ruminate and hold onto unnecessary thoughts.
Years ago, I had a very stressful job, and very tight shoulders. Nothing would make the tension headaches or tightness dissipate. Until, I stumbled upon an hour movement class, where we were instructed to tighten and release, let go, of the muscle tension from our head to our toes. It was that class that gave me my first glimpse of this powerful connection, and how important it is to use a variety of tools to release psychological and physiological tenion.

When I consider the Mind Body and Spirit connection, I have to look at it through this lens of Ayurveda, which teaches me that
the mind and the body are linked.
We always talk about the psychology and the physiology together, which leaves the spirit as something that's a little bit separate.
The idea is to start to cultivate a body that is very balanced, very healthy and able to do the things that I want to do. If I can start to integrate mindful practices
that bring me peace, and decrease stress, then I have the luxury of an amazing platform
from which to work on my spirit.
If I am distracted by chronic illness or pain, or other things going on, on a psychological or physiological level, then I have no way to start to access my own spirituality, and cultivate and develop it in a meaningful way.
We take care of the body, we take care of the mind, and then we have the luxury of exploring the spirit unencumbered.
